Sadio Mané and Virgil Van Dijk's friendship continues to grow stronger after the Liverpool attacker stressed on their companionship after the victory over Benfica.

The Senegal forward was on target as Liverpool thrashed Benfica in Portugal to take a giant step towards the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.

After the game, Mané posted a photo of him and the Dutch center back emphasizing they will be friends forever despite the big game which awaits them at the World Cup.

"Big man we still friend until," he posted on Instagram. "Well done," he added.

Sadio Mané and Virgil Van Dijk have been friends since their days at Southampton and have barely played against each other.

However, the friends will be at opposing sides when Senegal open their World Cup campaign against the Netherland in Qatar.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Virgil Van Dijk has revealed that the opening game between the Netherlands and Senegal will be a difficult one despite looking forward to facing his Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane.

2010 finalist Holland were paired alongside the African champions in the draw held in Doha last Friday.

The Dutch national team captain will lead his teammates against the African giants in their opening group A match.
