  • Mohamed Salah and Liverpool's contract stand-off is about to see a headway after months of back and forth
  • According to the Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi Salah has his heart settled at Liverpool and is likely to extend his stay at the Merseyside outfit
  • He made this revelation despite advising the 29-year-old forward to seek pastures anew elsewhere

Egypt's Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi has revealed Mohamed Salah intends to ink his signature to a new deal at Liverpool.

Salah and Liverpool have been embroiled in a protracted contract extension deal with no headway made yet despite the fact that both parties need each other now and surely in the future.

Taking the contract stall between the two parties, top clubs including Barcelona have been rumoured to be lurking around the Egyptian but it appears any move away from England has hit a snag.

According to Ashraf Sobhi, he urged Salah not to extend his stay at Anfield but it appears the 29-year-old forward has his heart settled at the English Premier League giants.

"I have advised him to continue his journey at a club other than Liverpool, but his direction now is to renew his contract," Sobhi said as quoted by bbc.

Salah has played an integral part in Liverpool's success under Jurgen Klopp and will prove vital in their chase for the fabled quadruple - a term coined for winning the English Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and UEFA Champions League - after helping the Anfield side clinch the League Cup at the expense of Chelsea earlier this year.

Salah makes decision on Liverpool future

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mohamed Salah has reportedly decided to stay at Liverpool despite being linked with a move away this summer.

The Egyptian forward is currently embroiled in a contract standoff with Liverpool chiefs, with reports suggesting he previously rejected terms of around £400,000-a-week.

Given his contract situation at Anfield, Salah is believed to have courted interest from a number of European clubs.

Sadio Mane asks Liverpool to botch special ceremony out of respect for Salah

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has asked the club to cancel a special ceremony to celebrate his World Cup qualification out of respect to teammate Mohamed Salah.

Sadio Mane twice led his Senegalese team to success against Mohamed Salah's Egypt, including beating the Pharaohs in the World Cup play-offs on last week Tuesday.

The World Cup play-offs were yet another heartbreak for Egypt after they were beaten on penalties by Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final in February.
