FootballChelsea legend names three Champions League favourites after Liverpool, Bayern booked quarter-final spot
- Liverpool and Bayern Munich are the first teams to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League
- Frank Leboeuf reckons the two football giants alongside Man City are the three favourites to be crowned European champions
- Incidentally, the ex-player does not see his former side, Chelsea, retaining the Champions League title
Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf has named his three favourites to win the Champions League this season.
A number of European heavyweights are still firmly in the competition - including Man City, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and holders Chelsea.
However, Leboeuf does not see Chelsea retaining the European crown despite being on course to securing a quarter-final spot in the competition.
The Blues already have one foot in the last eight having seen off Lille 2-0 in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.
Frank Leboeuf makes Champions League prediction
According to Leboeuf, Man City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich are the string favourites to be crowned European champions this season.
While speaking to BritishGambler via Metro UK, the former Blues star reckoned the three teams have the best chance of winning the title compared to Chelsea.
"Man City are dying to win the Champions League – I think if you asked every City fan if they would rather win the league or the Champions League, they would all say the Champions League," he said.
"I think that Liverpool can win the Champions League and you only have to look at their history in the competition," he added.
Liverpool, Bayern Munich book last eight spot
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are the first teams to confirm their places in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Bayern demolished RB Salzburg 7-1 in the second leg of their 1ast 16 clash to progress on an 8-2 aggregate.
On their part, Liverpol survived an Inter Milan scare in the reverse tie of the round of 16 played on Tuesday night, March 8, at Anfield.
The Reds beat Inter 2-0 in the first leg before falling to a 1-0 defeat at home - but qualified on a 2-1 aggregate win.
