Premier League club Liverpool overcame Spanish club Atletico Madrid 3-2 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in an intense Champions League clash on Tuesday night, Telegraph reports.

Mohamed Salah grabbed a brace for the English club on the night to continue his staggering form so far this season, having scored a wonder goal against Watford over the weekend.

The Egyptian opened the scoring as early as the 6th minute after his shot from slightly outside the area took a huge deflection and left Oblak helpless.

And seven minutes later, it was 2-0 when Felipe's half clearance fell to Keita, who volleyed past Oblak from just outside the box.

In the 21st minute, Antoine Griezmann halved the deficit for Atletico.

A short Atletico corner led to Lemar getting away from Keita and firing a low cross into the box that went all the way through to Koke, before he then did the same, with the ball deflecting off of Griezmann and going in.

Griezmann made it 2-2 in the 34th minute when Joao Felix got away from Keita and then found the Frenchman, who took a touch to take himself into the area before firing a shot across goal that beat Alisson.

In the 76th minute, the visitors were rewarded a penalty kick after Mario Hermoso body checked Diogo Jota inside the box. It seemed needless and the referee pointed to the spot immediately.

Mo Salah stepped up and sent goalkeeper Oblak the wrong way to give Liverpool the lead again.
