Abdoulaye Diop who is the Mayor of the Senegalese region of Sedhiou has disclosed big plans for the city's new stadium to be named after Liverpool striker Sadio Mane after winning 2021 AFCON.
Sadio Mane was in great form at the just concluded 2021 African Cup of Nations as the forward scored the decisive kick that helped Senegal to beat Egypt 4-2 in the final.
In the competition, the Liverpool superstar played all the games for Senegal netting three goals and providing two assist which helped his nation to win the title.

FootballAccording to the report on GOAL and Sports News, Diop explained that the region are proud of Sadio Mane and they will honour the Liverpool forward.
“Sadio Mane has honoured all of Senegal, the Sedhiou region and the entire Casamance area. I have decided to name the Sedhiou stadium after him.
“In doing so I wish to convey the gratitude of all the sons and daughters of the region towards him.
"He has made all of mankind aware of Bambali and Sedhiou, the region's main town. This is a gift that Sadio Mane truly deserves."
