  • Ex-EPL forward Kevin Philips believes Liverpool should go all out and sign Saka to fill Salah's boots

Liverpool have been advised to make a transfer move for Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who has been fantastic for Liverpool since he joined them from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 has his future at Anfield hanging in the balance.

The Egypt international is yet to pen an extension to his current deal with the Reds which has just 18 months left to run.

Saka touted as Salah's perfect replacement

Ex-Premier League striker Kevin Phillips has now backed Arsenal's Saka to fill Salah's boots at Anfield.

Philips contends the Gunners ace would be an ideal successor to Salah, citing his young age and talent.

“I think Saka will get better and better. He’s still a young kid, he’s done a lot already in his short career," Philips told Football Insider.
“I think he’s an unbelievable talent and I think, moulded in the right way, he’ll turn out to be a top-class player," he added.

But can Saka swap Arsenal for Liverpool?

Saka, an Arsenal academy graduate has entered the final 12 months of his contract, and the north Londoners risk losing him should they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

As such, it remains to be seen if the 20-year-old would be willing to dump the Gunners in favour of their Premier League rivals.

Meanwhile, the Englishman has been in top shape for Arsenal this term having bagged seven goals thus far.

Lacazette named Arsenal captain

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has appointed Alexander Lacazette as the club's new captain for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Gunners have been without a substantive skipper since Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the role following "a disciplinary breach."

And with the Gabonese striker already past tense at the Emirates following his January switch to Barcelona, Arteta has resolved to fill the role with Lacazette.
