Burnley will host Leicester City in the English Premier League this evening, with both teams looking to avoid the dreaded relegation zone.
The Clarets currently find themselves in the bottom three, but a win over The Foxes will see them leapfrog Brentford into 15th place.
Currently, only six points separate the five sides at the bottom of the table. Newcastle United’s recent upturn in form has seen them drag Leeds United and Everton into the fight and Leicester could be next.
The Foxes are defending FA Cup champions, but their form in the Premier League has been poor. Leicester are currently in 13th place but are only six points clear of their hosts, Burnley.
The last encounter between Burnley and Leicester City ended in a draw
Jamie Vardy scored three times during the last meeting between the two sides, as they drew 2-2. Vardy opened the scoring for Burnley but redeemed himself by netting twice for The Foxes. Maxwel Cornet scored Burnley’s goal as the two teams could not be separated.
As Sky Sports reported, Maxwel Cornet could feature against Leicester City, but the player is still nursing a slight ankle concern.
Leicester City though will be buoyed by the return of Jamie Vardy to the squad. Vardy has not played for Leicester since December 2021, after picking up a hamstring injury, Lancs Live reported.
