VIDEO: Yusuf Maart Goal vs Orlando Pirates; David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Xabi Alonso would all be proud
Yusuf Maart might probably be the biggest story on the African continent right now when it comes to football.
The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder scored from behind the halfway line to sink his former club Orlando Pirates at Soccer City, handing the Amakhosi a 1-0 over their arch-rivals. The goal is probably the most spectacular one to have ever been scored in the history of this storied fixture.
The ball was stolen in the middle of the park and shuffled along to Maart, who spotted Mpontshane off his line and went for goal from a few metres inside his own half – the ball drifted perfectly beyond the reach of the ‘keeper and gave the Amakhosi a deserved lead.
The strike brought back memories of similar ones scored by the likes of Wayne Rooney, Xabi Alonso, Hlompho Kekana and David Beckham from years past.
