- The Amakhosi had to face the music after several pitch invasions by their supporters during an MTN 8 quarterfinal match against Stellenbosch FC FC at the Danie Crave Stadium
- Considering the seriousness of the charges, the club got away with a relatively light fine as punishment
Kaizer Chiefs will be breathing a sigh of relief after the punishment it received from the Premier Soccer League after the unruly behaviour of their supporters.
During the MTN 8 quarterfinal between the Amakhosi and Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium two weeks ago, Chiefs supporters invaded the pitch twice to celebrate a goal as well as after the team won a penalty shoot-out.
IOL reported that the club had since been charged by the Premier Soccer League.
According to TimesLIVE, league prosecutor Zola Majavu said:

“They (Chiefs) pleaded guilty as charged and having listened to extensive submissions on behalf of the prosecutor as well as their legal representatives, the PSL DC sanctioned Kaizer Chiefs a monetary fine of R200 000.
“Half is suspended for a period of 24 months on condition that during the period of suspension they are not found guilty of the same offence.”
Ironically, the PSL was also sanctioned for the chaos that ensued that day, having been in charge of security at the venue. Its punishment will come in the form of a joint press conference with Chiefs, in which they will have to both address fans on how to behave at stadiums on match days.

FootballThe Carling Black Label Cup was launched in a glittering event at the FNB Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday.
The one-day event will take place on 12 November 2022 at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg. This year’s edition will see all 16 PSL teams participate in the voting, with the four most voted teams being involved in the one-day tournament.
Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza confirmed the return of the Carling Black Label Cup at the end of July. However, the tournament's format will change, with four teams competing. Fans can vote for these four teams from the pool of 16 in the DStv Premiership.
