FootballJunior Khanye Pours Cold Water Over Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates DStv Premiership Hopes
- Controversial football analyst Junior Khanye believes Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates can forget about winning the DStv Premiership title this season
- The Amakhosi last won the league title in 2015, with the Buccaneers last tasting glory in 2012
- He expects Mamelodi Sundowns to continue their one-horse race towards a sixth consecutive title
Junior Khanye won't make himself popular among Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates with his latest comments.
The former Amakhosi player dismissed his ex-club's as well as Orlando Pirates' hopes of dethroning Mamelodi Sundowns for the DStv Premiership title. Bafana BaStyle have won it five times in a row, while Chiefs and Pirates last did so in 2015 and 2012 respectively.
Khanye, now a football analyst, told Kick Off:
"As usual, Mamelodi Sundowns will finish the season as champions. Royal AM will finish as runners-up. Third place will be Cape Town City. AmaZulu will finish in fourth with the quality players they've brought in.

"Both Chiefs and Pirates will fail to make the top four this season, they will be fighting for the fifth position. You can print this."
This hot take comes just weeks after Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngithi also laughed off the club's Soweto rivals, having said to Kick Off:
"They still have to fight Cape Town City, they still have to fight Stellenbosch, they still have to fight Royal AM. They are number five and number six for a reason, so they have got a lot of work to do to try and fight us. It’s [premiership season] going to be interesting."
