Daniel Akpeyi is not ready to end his playing career just yet.
The 35-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper was one of the Kaizer Chiefs’ players whose contracts will not be renewed by the club.
Lazalous Kambole, Lebogang Manyama, Kearyn Baccus, Samir Nurković and Daniel Cardoso are the other players who will become free agents at the end of June.
Akpeyi has now become the first of the players to speak out about the Amakhosi’s decision not to renew his contract. Akpeyi took to his Twitter account to focus on the journey ahead and post about his love for Kaizer Chiefs.
The Nigerian shot-stopper made just 12 appearances for the Amakhosi this season, keeping five clean sheets and conceding seven goals, TransferMarkt confirmed.
He has made 69 appearances for the Sowetan giants since joining from Chippa United in 2019.

Kaizer Chiefs are in the process of a mass clearout at the Naturena. The Amakhosi announced on their social media pages that a host of players, and some technical staff, would be parting ways with the club.
Kearyn Baccus, Daniel Akpeyi, Leonardo Castro, Daniel Cardoso, Lebogang Manyama, Lazalous Kambole and Samir Nurković will all leave the club at the end of June.
The Amakhosi have also put Anthony Akumu Agay on the transfer list and parted ways with goalkeeper coach, Lee Baxter.

FootballIt’s official, Ashley du Preez and Zitha Kwinika are Naturena bound. The Stellenbosch FC duo were rumoured to have signed with Kaizer Chiefs, but it has now been made official.
Goal.com reported that du Preez and Kwinika will join the Amakhosi on July 1, forming part of Arthur Zwane’s rebuild.
