Mduduzi Shabalala is inching his way closer to making his dreams come true.

The Kaizer Chiefs talented youngster is currently undergoing trials with La Liga side Villareal.

Shabalala took to social media to share a post from Villarreal’s account, showing him in club training gear.

Shabalala’s trip to Spain has been long overdue, with the player first set to head off to Barcelona after impressing at the COSAFA CUP. The Covid-19 pandemic put those dreams on hold, though.

The South African star was then invited to Belgium for assessments at KVC Westerlo, The South African reported. He was called up along with Chiefs teammate Bontle Molefe.

It’s understood that Shabalala impressed during his assessment with the Belgian side.

With KVC Westerlo impressed and Villarreal giving the player a chance, the future is indeed bright for Shabalala. He will also be at the Spanish club as they prepare for their UEFA Champions League encounter.

Villarreal will host Liverpool in the second leg of their semi-final, BBC reported. Liverpool leads the tie 2-0.

Kaizer Chiefs starlet Mduduzi Shabalala could still be Barcelona or La Liga bound

Kaizer Chiefs striker Mduduzi Shabalala's possible move to Spanish heavyweights Barcelona might still be on. The 17-year-old-striker is currently on an extended trial in Belgium with K.V.C Westerlo.

It was reported in January that Shabalala was headed to Spain, but his trip had to be postponed because of Covid-19 travel restrictions in place at the time. According to Soccer Laduma, while Shabalala makes his way in Belgium, the move to La Blaugrana, or indeed in La Liga, could yet materialise.

The publication reported that he was "selected by a technical study group for a LaLiga development experience", which will give him the opportunity to experience the country's football culture.
