- Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy in seven seasons and are struggling to secure a return to continental competitions
The end of the season could not come fast enough for Kaizer Chiefs.
On the back of four straight defeats, things are not looking promising for the Amakhosi, even after firing Stuart Baxter.
Interim co-coach, Arthur Zwane, admitted a need for change and rebuilding at the club. Kaizer Chiefs have not won a trophy in seven seasons, a stat indicative of just how the Soweto giants have fallen.
Speaking after the recent loss to Cape Town City, Zwane admitted that some players were not good enough to represent a brand like Kaizer Chiefs, Times LIVE reported.
“We have to rebuild and we have to look for players that are good enough to come and play for this team to get it back where it belongs by playing with no fear.”
In the entire press conference shared by Lorenzo Köhler on Twitter, Zwane admitted that at the rate they were going, they could not lie to themselves and say they had quality players but were not showing it.
“When you talk about quality, we have to be winning games and challenging for honours. If you are nowhere near that for the past seven years, I would be lying to myself and to you to say players will get it right.”
He went on to add that what was happening now was a setback but not a train smash and that the club would get it right.
Kaizer Chiefs will next play Marumo Gallants on 3 May before hosting Mamelodi Sundowns at home on 8 May.

FootballCape Town City beat Kaizer Chiefs, Amakhosi’s DStv Premiership slump continues with fourth defeat in a row
Kaizer Chiefs can’t catch a break. The Amakhosi slumped to their fourth defeat in a row at the hands of Cape Town City at home, Sports Brief earlier reported.
Cape Town City secured the 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Craig Martin and Terrence Mashego. Martin opened the scoring in the 14th minute for the visitors after a mix up at the back by the Amakhosi’s defence. Mashego made it 2 at the hour mark to compound Chiefs' worries.
Chiefs fought back and got a goal back in the 83rd minute. Dumisani Zuma got onto the scoresheet to give the Amakhosi some hope of securing a point from the encounter. The win sees Cape Town City consolidate third place and put themselves a point behind Royal AM, who occupy the second spot.
