Kaizer Chiefs striker Mduduzi Shabalala's possible move to Spanish heavyweights Barcelona might still be on.
The 17-year-old-striker is currently on an extended trial in Belgium with K.V.C Westerlo. It was reported in January that Shabalala was headed to Spain, but his trip had to be postponed because of Covid-19 travel restrictions in place at the time.
Now, according to Soccer Laduma, while Shabalala makes his way in Belgium, the move to La Blaugrana, or indeed in La Liga, could yet materialise. The publication reported that he was "selected by a technical study group for a LaLiga development experience", which will give him the opportunity to experience the country's football culture.
Shabalala came to prominence in 2020 after being named the COSAFA Under-17 Player of the Tournament. He helped fire South Africa to the title in a title that was hosted in Mzansi in November that year.
He had also become a lynchpin in the Amakhosi's DStv Diski Challenge team, where his absence is being felt judging by the team's results since his departure.
Kaizer Chiefs looking to raise R20 Million from offloading players at the end of the season
Kaizer Chiefs stands to raise around R20 million for its transfer war chest ahead of the 2022/23 season.
After last winning a trophy in 2015, various members are expected to be offloaded at the end of the season in May by the Amakhosi, as was reported by Sports Brief.
This would help the club greatly when it goes on a recruitment drive in trying to cure the seven-year-long itch for silverware.
