FootballDStv Premiership: Kaizer Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter's Job Is Safe... For Now
- Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter's job is seemingly safe for now
- This is despite the Amakhosi being out of the running for every trophy this season, except if a miracle occurred in the DStv Premiership
- Kaizer Chiefs fans are currently baying for Baxter's blood, with his assistant coach Arthur Zwane a preferred candidate
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter’s position has not been helped by their Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of TS Galaxy, who beat Amakhosi 1-0 this past weekend to effectively extend Chiefs’ trophy drought for another season.
The Amakhosi take on Cape Town City this evening in the DStv Premiership, where a win will keep the wolves at the gate for the meantime.
According to a source of The Citizen:
“The coach won’t be fired any time soon. But the deal is that this has to be the rebuilding phase and next season the chairman is expecting the trophy drought to end or heads will roll.
"Baxter has the best Chiefs squad in a while and a lot is expected from him – some of his contract deliverables include bringing in silverware."
Kaizer Chiefs fans are currently calling on Baxter to be shown the door, with assistant coach favoured among them to take over at their beloved club.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter admits that Mamelodi Sundowns' buying power disturbed their transfer plans
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter hinted tellingly that Mamelodi Sundowns disrupted their transfer dealings during the January window.
The club came under heavy criticism for a disappointing showing on the transfer market, bringing in no players. Chiefs instead was forced to renew the contracts of seven players.
Baxter's annoyance comes in the wake of the highly rated former SuperSport player Teboho Mokoena being snatched from the Amakhosi's clutches by Masandawana last month, as reported on Goal.com.
Chiefs also had to endure the embarrassment of missing out on Amazulu's Siyethemba Sithebe, having agreed with him in principle to join the Naturena-based sided, as per BusinessLIVE.
