Football lovers are in for a real treat today as the DStv Premiership serves up a trio of exciting games.
Kaizer Chiefs, Royal AM and Supersport United all have tough encounters today, as they take on Cape Town City FC, Sekhukhune United and Maritzburg United respectively.
Five of the six teams involved in today’s games are in the top ten on the log and some are separated by very few points.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) shared the fixtures on their Twitter channel, which see Royal AM start off the day’s games when they host Sekhukhune United.
Royal AM vs Sekhukune United
Royal AM goes into the game on the back of a win in the Nedbank Cup. The KwaZulu-Natal based team beat Cape Town City FC in the Nedbank and now take on Swallows FC in the next round. Sekhukhune United on the other hand come into the game after suffering a shock defeat to Platinum City Rovers. Royal AM is currently seventh in the standing, one point ahead of Sekhukhune United, who is in eighth place, SuperSport reported.
Maritzburg United vs Supersport United
It’s a revenge match for Maritzburg United who was dumped out of the Nedbank Cup by Supersport United over the weekend. An Iqraam Rayners goal separated the two sides and Maritzburg will be looking to turn the tables during their DStv Premiership clash. Supersport United find themselves sixth on the log table, level on points with Royal AM. Maritzburg on the other hand finds themselves languishing near the bottom of the table.

FootballKaizer Chiefs vs Cape Town City FC
A lot of eyes will be on Kaizer Chiefs today as they travel to Cape Town to take on Cape Town City. Chiefs need to bounce back after their defeat in the Nedbank Cup and Stuart Baxter’s job could be on the line if they fail to win. Cape Town City on the other hand will move level with Sekhukhune United today if they were to get the win.
Lyle Lakay and Richard Mbulu score stunners, Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC play out to an entertaining draw
Baroka FC scored in the dying seconds of their game against Mamelodi Sundowns to steal a point against the Brazilians. Lyle Lakay opened the scoring for Sundowns with a stunning freekick but this was cancelled out by Richard Mbulu.
In a game that Sports Brief monitored, Lakay was in exceptional form and was unlucky to have only scored one goal. Lakay had three freekick chances, striking the post and crossbar with two of them, while he scored with the other.
Lakay also hit the crossbar with a long-range effort in the first half when the game was still goalless. Lakay’s first freekick attempt came on the 25th minute, but despite beating the wall, the ball crashed into the post.
