FootballPSL Drops the Hammer Down on Kaizer Chiefs, Charges Club for Not Honouring Fixtures
- It will be an awkward start to the second half the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season for Kaizer Chiefs
- The Amakhosi were charged by new Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu for failing to honour fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows
- This was in the wake of a Covid-19 outbreak at Naturena, which affected nearly 40 playing and non-playing personnel
New Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu has wasted no time in attending to pressing legal matters, charging Kaizer Chiefs for not honouring two fixtures last month.
The Amakhosi failed to pitch up for clashes against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows because of a Covid-19 outbreak at the club which laid 36 players and staff low. As a result, they had requested these and other fixtures to be postponed by the PSL, which the governing body declined.
KickOff reported that the league would now charge Chiefs for their actions in the coming days.
Majavu said:
"I can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has been charged in relation to their non-fulfilment of the two fixtures. As a result of the allegations that most of their players had tested positive. That case has also been enrolled for hearing for the 21st of January at 16:00.
"As soon as these matters have been finalised, I will once again communicate the outcomes thereof. Alternatively, if there are any developments in relation to these matters I will similarly communicate those."
Kaizer Chiefs ace Keagan Dolly finally receives monthly accolades
In much better news for the Kaizer Chiefs family, midfielder Keagan Dolly received accolades without the usual fanfare at the club's Naturena home base in southern Johannesburg.
Dolly was named as the DStv Premiership Player of the Month for October/November after a fine run of performances then. He also received the Goal of the Month for his cracking strike in a convincing 4-0 win against Maritzburg United.
The moment was revealed on Kaizer Chiefs' Twitter account through a video in which Dolly was congratulated by temporary coach Arthur Zwane and club sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr.
