Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt has penned a heartwarming message to Juventus as he bid the Bianconerri farewell following his three-year association with the club.

De Ligt joined German giants Bayern Munich from Juventus on a five-year deal worth 70 million euros.

In a post on micro-blogging platform Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, de Ligt sent a heartwarming message to the fans of Juventus as he embarks on his new adventure in Germany.

"The time has come to close a very beautiful chapter in my career. Massive thanks to the entire Juventus family, club, coaches, players, staff and fans for the love you’ve shown to me. Was an honour to fight by your side and play for this team. Sarete sempre nel mio cuore."

The towering defender joined Juventus from boyhood club Ajax Amsterdam in 2019, where he made 117 appearances across all competitions, helping the side win a Scudetto, a Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana.

Capped 38 times for the Oranje of Holland, de Ligt becomes the second summer signing for Bayern Munich after the Bavarians secured the services of Sadio Mane.

Reports in the German media put the cost to Bayern of securing the Dutch central defender at 70 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses ($82 million in total).
