Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri casts doubt on Pogba return with blunt statement

• Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri was very coy with his response when he was asked to comment on reports linking Paul Pogba with a move back to Italy.

Pogba appears destined to leave Old Trafford after a six-year spell, having made a comeback to the club in 2016.

Amid his impending exit, his next club is yet to be determined, with rumors suggesting he might join French giants Paris Saint Germain or make a return to Juventus in Italy.

It was at Juventus that Pogba enjoyed his most prolific spell as a professional football player, and at some point, Allegri was his manager.

In the aftermath of Juventus’ 2-2 draw with Lazio on Monday, May 16, Allegri was asked to comment on the rumours linking Pogba with a move back to the Bianconeri.

Asked whether he was keen on reuniting with Pogba, Allegri, who was clearly agitated by Juventus surrendering a two-goal lead to Lazio, remained very subtle with his response.

"I don't know him, who is he? Is that an English word?" Allegri said as quoted by DAZN.

"I forgot, it's been too many years."

This is however not to say that Juventus are not pursuing Pogba. In fact, The Old Lady remain one of the favourites to sign the superstar, who will be a free agent in a few weeks.

Juve’s trophy-less season

Meanwhile, Sports Brief reported of how Juventus endured a trophy-less season for the first time in more than a decade following defeat in the Copa Itallia.

It was a blockbuster final which produced classics from both sides, but Juve succumbed in extra time after Inter forced the tie to extend following a controversial leveller in the closing minutes of regulation time.
