Confederation of African Football(CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has confirmed that the African Super League will begin in August next year.
The Super League will be launched officially next month in Arusha, Tanzania during CAF's 44th General Assembly.
News 24 reports that Motsepe confirmed the developments on Sunday.

The decision has now been taken to implement the CAF Super League. It will start in August 2023 and we will launch it during CAF's 44th Ordinary Assembly in Tanzania on August 10.
We have been inundated with investors and sponsors, who are anxious to partner with us on the CAF Super League. It has huge potential to significantly uplift African football and to make it even more powerful.
The Super League is expected to be a preserve of top teams in the continent. Official details will be released during the launch next month but Motsepe has in the past argued that the new competition will plough money back into African football.
KingFut reports that a team will be eligible to play in the Super League if it haves a Women's team and a Youth team. This will technically knock out Kenya's top clubs Gor Mahia, Tusker and AFC Leopards which have no established women sides.

Sports Brief also reported that the Confederation of African Football has postponed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast to January and February 2024.
The tournament was initially slated for June and July 2023, but CAF had to move it to 2024 due to the weather conditions around that time in Ivory Coast.
