US-based Ghanaian center back, Jonathan Mensah has disclosed his eagerness to represent Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Mensah is one of the players to join the team in their Qatar camp this week, after arriving on Tuesday.
In a photo posted on Twitter, the Columbus Crew captain stated he is honoured to play for the Black Stars and the team is working hard ahead of the tournament.
"Always a blessing and an honor to have the opportunity to serve. We keep working," he wrote on Twitter.
Jonathan Mensah has been to three nations cup and was part of the team that reached the final of the competition in 2015.
At 31, he is one of the most experienced players in the current team and he is expected to play a leadership role at AFCON 2021.
The Black Stars have been training for the past two weeks in the United Arab Emirates at the players arrive in camp.
The team has lined up a series of friendlies in Qatar, including a game against African champions Algeria.
The West African powerhouse are chasing a fifth AFCON triumph after last winning the tournament in 1982. Ghana has been in the finals three times since, losing the 1992, 2010 and 2015 finals.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and the Comoros Island.

FootballEarlier, SportsBrief.com reported that, the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars have zoomed into early preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.
The team led by coach Milovan Rajevac have been in Doha since Saturday, December 25, 2021 as pre-AFCON camping begin for AFCON 2021.
