George Afriyie, the former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, has backed new Black Stars coach Chris Hughton for success with the national team.
The former Brighton & Hove Albion manager was appointed head coach of the Black Stars last month, having played the role of a technical advisor for a year.
According to Mr Afriyie, Hughton should have been the coach of the Black Stars at the World Cup and has firm belief in the 63-year-old to lead the Black Stars to glory.
"Chris, for me, should have taken us to the World Cup. Because you have a manager who has managed a top English football club. You and I know that, there is no argument about this, that the English league, the Spanish and German leagues are the best three in the world," he told 3 Sports.

"For me I have enough confidence in Chris Hughton. Yes coaches can come and fail but let us do our part, appoint the right personnel and say we did our best. I have confidence in the coach."
Hughton is expected in Ghana this week ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month against Angola.
The former Ireland international has named a 25-man squad for the double-header as the Black Stars eye a return to the Nations Cup.
