  • Sulley Muntari believes Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey can offer more to the Black Stars
  • The Black Stars midfielder has not been at his best at the World Cup as Ghana were eliminated at the group stage
  • Partey played all three matches at the tournament in Qatar but the Black Stars failed to glitter

Former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari believes Arsenal star Thomas Partey needs time to give his best to the national team.

Partey has come under intense pressure from Ghanaians following his lukewarm display for the Black Stars at the World Cup.

Fans of the Black Stars believe the 29-year-old is not committed to Ghana as he is for English Premier League leaders Arsenal.

And Muntari seems to agree with the fans but adds it will take time for the player to get into his groove for the four-time African champions.

"Partey for me is excellent, he is superb and a world class player, you can't take that away from him," he told 3 Sports.
"He is so intelligent in midfield and he is very elegant. When he plays he is a joy to watch.
"With the national team, I sit up there and I always think, I see Partey plays and sometimes it's like I don't see him around the team like in the last two games. But if Partey switched for like 25% of his strength, his mind and his intelligence and the way he knows how to play, the Black Stars will be crazy massive," he added.

The Black Stars have been eliminated from the World Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in the final Group H game.

Partey has left camp and will rejoin his teammates for mid-season preparations ahead of the resumption of the English league.

Roy Keane criticizes Partey

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Manchester United captain Roy Keane is unsure if Thomas Partey can inspire the Ghana national team at the World Cup in Qatar.

Partey was largely missing during Ghana's Group H opener against Portugal as the Black Stars suffered defeat to the 2016 European champions.

The Black Stars deputy captain is however having an excellent campaign with Arsenal in the English Premier League.
