Ghana Coach Otto Addo Has No Fear For Any Country Ahead of the 2022 World Cup

Head coach of Ghana's national team, Otto Addo, is highly optimistic of the Black Stars' chances heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The West African football powerhouse are the lowest ranked nation out of the 32 team that have qualified for the Mundial.

However, the former Dortmund player is unperturbed by the threats of group opponents Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

“I know we can beat any team in the world, that one is for sure. I think it's the first game for us but also the opponent can be very decisive on how to go on the second one,” he told TV3 as quoted by Pulse.

“Because surely you will go into a match differently if you need points. Then if the opponent has lost and you have three points or one point, it is a bit different. The first match is very decisive and then from there we can know how to go on the second match.”

The four-time African champions open their World Cup with a game against 2016 European champions Portugal before engaging South Korea and Uruguay respectively.

Ghana's best performance at the World Cup was in 2010 when the team reached the quarter-finals in South Africa.

Otto Addo is yet to release his preliminary squad for the tournament which begins on November 20, 2022.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana's former President, John Dramani Mahama, has sent a message to the Black Stars team urging them to revenge the defeat to Uruguay when they meet the South Americans at the World Cup in Qatar.

The four-time African champions were prevented from reaching a historic World Cup semi-final after Luis Suarez stopped a stoppage time goal-bound strike from Dominic Adiyiah.

The Uruguayans went on to win the quarter-final game against Ghana at the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 on penalties.
