Former chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, believes captain Andre Ayew should be starting games for the Black Stars regardless of his form.

The Al Sadd forward has come under intense pressure in recent times, with fans of the Black Stars calling for him to be dropped from the team for the World Cup.

However, Nyaho-Tamakloe thinks otherwise insisting Ayew should make the team and start games in Qatar.

“It is totally wrong to bench the captain of the Black Stars. Totally wrong. Dede (Ayew) is a very good footballer and has done enough for the team. I think we rather have to encourage him and let him play a key part in Qatar,” he told Angel TV as quoted by GHANASoccernet.

The 32-year-old will lead the team to the World Cup in Qatar, where he is expected to play a key role for the four-time African champions.

Qatar 2022 will be the skipper's third World Cup, having played at the 2010 and 2014 World Cup in South Africa and Brazil.

Ghana have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay at the global showpiece which starts next month.

Former Ghana FA President Nyaho-Tamakloe wants Asamoah Gyan to be part of World Cup squad

Earlier, Sports Brief reported ex-Ghana Football Association boss, Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, believes Asamoah Gyan can make a difference in the Black Stars team and has to be included in squad for World Cup in Qatar.

Gyan, the former Black Stars captain, has not been part of the team since the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

However, Nyaho-Tamakloe insists the legendary forward could be an asset for Ghana in Qatar next month.
