Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo believes the Black Stars will be the first African team to win the FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup trophy began its tour of Africa in Accra over the weekend, led by 1998 winner David Trezeguet.
Inspired by Ghana's pioneering role in leading African countries to independence, Nana Akufo-Addo said the Black Stars are set to make history.
"I am of the firm conviction that Ghana will not only participate in the competition but will make the whole nation and by extension the African continent proud, with a great performance," he said as quoted by Pulse.

"I, therefore, want to urge all Ghanaians, in conclusion, to throng the Accra Polo Court to view the trophy and to be part of history, before we finally bring the cup home on 18th December. We, who were the first to gain our freedom and independence from colonial rule, will be the first to bring the World Cup to Africa."
The Black Stars are making a return to the World Cup after edging Nigeria in the play-offs in March.
Ghana have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

FootballFIFA World Cup trophy arrives in Ghana for a two-day tour
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the FIFA World Cup trophy has landed in Ghana for a two-day tour led by former winner David Trezeguet.
The trophy arrived on Saturday morning with the Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku receiving the delegation at the Kotoko International Airport.
In photos posted on social media, the golden trophy is covered in a glass case and well guarded by security.
