2015 AFCON Star Kwesi Appiah Excited to Sign New Contract With English Club

Former Ghana international Kwesi Appiah has expressed delight after inking a new deal with English League Two outfit Crawley Town FC.

The 31-year-old forward was among ten first-team players of the club to have extended their stay with Crawley Town.

In a post on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, Kwesi Appiah intimated his satisfaction with the new deal after joining the Reds in August 2021 on an initial one-year deal.

Kwesi Appiah's career has been blighted by niggling injuries which have inadvertently seen his career stall.

He has found the back of the net on eight occasions in 18 matches for Crawley in the ongoing campaign and would hope to stay injury-free.

Kwesi Appiah shines at AFCON 2015

Appiah shot into prominence in Ghana when he excelled at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana narrowly missed out on the title, losing to Cote d'Ivoire in a marathon penalty shootout.

Born in Greater London, England, he was eligible to play for the European nation but opted to play for the four-time African champions and was drafted into then-coach Avram Grant's 23-man squad for the AFCON.

Despite the skepticism surrounding his call-up, Appiah silenced his detractors when he scored for Ghana in a quarterfinal clash against Guinea.

He could not add to his tally in his subsequent games but soon became a toast for Ghanaians with his total output.

Appiah has two goals seven games played for Ghana.

Fatawu Issahaku buzzing after joining Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Black Stars forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed satisfaction following his move to Portuguese outfit Sporting CP.

The 18-year-old attacker was officially unveiled by the club on Wednesday, April 6 after signing a five-year deal with the Primera Liga club.

In a post on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the attacker expressed profound joy as he commences his football journey in Europe.
