- Ghana defeated their West African rivals in the quarter-finals with goals from Michael Essien and Junior Agogo
The last time the Black Stars played Nigeria in Ghana evokes memories of when both countries were on top of their games.
It was at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana in 2008, when the Black Stars had to battle from a goal down to defeat the Super Eagles.
In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the highlights of the game seems to have rekindle the rivalry.
Michael Essien scored at the stroke of half time before a second half winner from the late Junior Agogo sent Ghana in delirium.
Ghana has not played the three times African in the country since despite playing a friendly in London years later.
How Ghana defeated Nigeria at CAN 2008
The Black Stars started the game brightly with forward Asamoah Gyan nearly opening the scoring but his effort went inches wide.
Halfway in the first stanza, Eric Addo fouled Nigeria forward Yakubu Ayegbeni in the box, and the former Everton man elected himself to score the opener.
But ex-Chelsea star Michael Essien replied right at the stroke of halftime after rising high to head home from a corner kick.
Goalkeeper Richard Kingston was made to work in the second half, after tipping out an Ayegbeni lofting strike. Ghana were reduced to ten men after captain John Mensah picked a red card.
And with few minutes left, Junior Agogo became the hero of Ghana, meeting a low cross from Sulley Muntari.
