Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has reportedly turned down an approach by Ghana to face Nigeria in the World Cup play-offs, it has emerged.
Ghana FA spokesperson Henry Asante Twum earlier revealed that coach Otto Addo wants to assemble the best set of players for the national assignment which includes Salisu.
But according to GhanaWeb, the Southampton center back has made himself unavailable for the Black Stars' encounter against the Super Eagles despite recovering from a hamstring injury.
Salisu was in action and played the entirety of the game for the Saints on Sunday as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Waftord.
The 22-year-old is yet to feature for the national team despite his sterling display in the English Premier League for his struggling Southampton side.
Black Stars coach Otto Addo is expected to name his squad this week for the encounter against Nigeria later this month.
Ghana hosts the Super Eagles on March 25, 2022 in the first-leg in Cape Coast before traveling to Abuja for the second leg in four days time.
