Coach of Ghana's U20 national team, Karim Zito has pointed out the media's lack of confidence in players invited to the national team as one of the reasons for their refusal to honour call ups.
Several Ghanaian players have turned down invitations for international assignments in recent times, with the likes of Mohammed Salisu and Felix Afena-Gyan coming to the fore.
Karim Zito, who led the Black Satellites to AFCON U20 triumph, also disclosed that insults is another huge factor that deters the players.
“The media should have confidence in what we have. You can never be an European, Nigerian or Cameroonian. Whatever it’s you are a Ghanaian. let’s rally behind our team,” Zito said as quoted by Sports World Ghana.

Football“It’s gotten to a time people don’t want to play for the Black Stars because of insults, which is very bad.
“When we were playing for the national team the whole country was behind us. If the country will put everything aside, and support the Black Stars, I bet you, we will go places,” he added.
The Ghana Football Association has been speaking with Europe-born Ghanaians in other to convince them to play for the Black Stars, but most have been unsuccessful.
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has announced a $10,000 package each for the Black Satellites squad that won the Under 20 African Cup of Nations.
This announcement was made when the proud team called on the president at the seat of government following their return from the tourney.
While addressing the team, President Akufo-Addo said the country was very proud of the achievements of the lads.
