  • Samuel Inkoom has declared himself available should any Ghana Premier League club contact him to join them in the ongoing season
  • The former Black Stars defender was influential for Asante Kotoko as they won the Ghana Premier in 2008 before he departed for Europe the following year
  • Since leaving Georgia club FC Torpedo, the 32-year-old has remained clubless and is not ruling out a return to Ghana's top flight

Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom is eyeing a return to the Ghana Premier League before he retires from active football.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract ended with Georgia club, FC Torpedo Kutaisi in December last year.

Inkoom played for Asante Kotoko and won the Ghana Premier League with the Porcupine Warriors before he departed for Europe in 2009.

The right full-back first joined Swiss champions, FC Basel, before featuring for clubs like Dnipro, Boavista, DC United and Antalyspor.

And now the U-2O champions has disclosed his desire to play in the Ghana Premier League again after more than a decade.

“It is possible I will play in the Ghana Premier League because I just finished my contract with my club in Georgia.
I am now back home. A lot of local clubs have sent in offers but in the end, I will have to decide with my agent, but I believe a comeback to Ghana is very possible because that is where I started,” Inkoom told Connect FM.

It will come as a huge surprise to see Emmanuel Agyemang Badu in the Phobian jersey after he declared his desire to return to Kotoko before retirement.

However, if the deal materialise, Badu will follow the footsteps of former Black Stars teammates Asamoah Gyan, Fatau Dauda and Sulley Muntari who recently returned to the Ghana Premier League.

Gyan and Dauda featured for Legon Cities whiles Muntari signed for Hearts of Oak.

Former Ghana striker wants to join Hearts of Oak

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Black Stars forward Prince Tagoe has declared his readiness to play for Hearts of Oak should the Accra-based side offer him a contract.

Tagoe, 35, who had a successful stint with the Phobians is currently unattached and works as a pundit on local television channel, Angel TV.

The 2000 CAF Champions League winners have struggled to mount a proper defence to the league crown they won last season owing to their lack of firepower in front of goal.
