Former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingston has tipped his former teammate Sulley Muntari to return to the Black Stars for the upcoming World Cup playoff against Nigeria.
Coach Otto Addo's team will lock horns with the Super Eagles in the first leg of the final hurdle for the FIFA World Cup playoffs on March 25 at Cape Coast Stadium with the return leg scheduled for Abuja four days later.
And ahead of the fierce contest, Kingston, who is now the current goalkeeper's coach for Ghana, is backing the UEFA Champions League winner to earn a call up to the team.
In an interview with Hot FM, Kingston said the former AC Milan midfielder could make a return to the senior national team following his sterling display in Hearts of Oak's game against Asante Kotoko last Sunday.
"He [Muntari] has done well for Hearts of Oak since he joined. I know he has the character to play for any team but I didn't expect him to do much in the Super Clash against Kotoko. We need players like him in the national team. Muntari is a great player so i think he can even be named in the Ghana squad [to face Nigeria]
Kingston line-up alongside Muntari for many years in the Black Stars, with the pair forming part of the team that qualified for Ghana’s first-ever World Cup in 2006.
