Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston says the Black Stars misses legendary forward Asamoah Gyan at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars lost their opening group C game against Morocco on Monday, after missing several goal scoring opportunities, only to concede seven minutes from time.
Laryea Kingston, a pundit on TV for the competition, in one of his submissions on Metro TV admitted the four times Africa champions miss the goal poaching instincts of Gyan.
“We don’t have a player like Asamoah Gyan in the national team. And this is what the national team needs,” he said on Metro TV.
“We need a fox striker; a striker that is always around the box and has that killer instinct. We don’t have that currently. We miss someone like Asamoah Gyan, he has done a lot.”
Asamoah Gyan for the first time since 2008 missed the Nations Cup after missing out on coach Milovan Rajevac's squad for the tournament.
The former Black Stars captain is yet to retire from football and these days works as a specialist analyst for DSTV's SuperSport channel.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will be hoping for redemption on Friday when they face Gabon at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo.
A win will get the 1982 AFCON winners back on track before their final group game against debutants Comoros Island next Tuesday.
