- The Black Stars of Ghana have arrived in Yaoundé ahead of the start of AFCON 2021 on Sunday, January 9
- The team led by captain Andre Ayew touched down in the Cameroonian capital without three players
- Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Philemon Baffour are expected to join camp in the coming days
The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, have touched down in the Cameroonian capital Yaoundé ahead of the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The team lead by Andre Ayew immediately went to their hotel as preparations continue ahead of their Group C opener against Morocco on Monday, January 10, 2021.
In photos posted on Twitter, the contingent were without Kamaldeen Sulemana, Philemon Baffuor and Mohammed Kudus.
Kamaldeen Sulemana had been in isolation for some days after a contact tracing by officials following a positive COVID test of teammate Alfred Gomis.
However, he will be joining the team on Sunday and could feature in the opened against Morocco on Monday.
Mohammed Kudus is yet to be released by Ajax due as he continues his recovery following an injury he picked while playing for the Ghana.
And Philemon Baffuor will join the team after completing a move to Portuguese outfit Rio Ave.
The Black Stars are chasing a fifth AFCON title after last winning the competition in 1982.
Ghana have been drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and the Comoros Island.
Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac lament over late arrival of players
Earlier, SportsBrief.com reported that, head coach of the senior national team of Ghana, Milovan Rajevac has blamed FIFA's decision to allow players join camp on January 3, for the team's haphazard preparations.
FIFA extended the date for players to arrive in camp from December 28 to January 3, just six days to AFCON following reluctance by clubs to release players.
Milovan Rajevac, in an interview with the Ghana Football Association's media explained the directive affected preparations.
