- It is the consecutive season the two teams have been drawn together and will complete their trilogy
- Fans have expressed pessimism over knocking out reigning the champions because of their manager
The UEFA Champions League draw can sometimes be predictable. Ahead of the draw, many fans were predicting a trilogy for Chelsea and Real Madrid, and it was the first matchup drawn during the event.
The two sides met in the two previous seasons, in the semifinals and quarterfinals in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, with the winners of each contest going on to win the trophies in Porto and Paris, respectively.
As reported by Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel guided Chelsea to a 3-1 aggregate score over Madrid in 2021 to set up an all-English final against Manchester City, which Chelsea won.
The second tie in 2022 took Edouard Mendy's blunders and Karim Benzema's masterclass to beat Chelsea. The record-holders Madrid went on to beat City and Liverpool in the semi-finals and finals, respectively, as reported by Goal.

Tuchel on Madrid's radar
Sports Brief earlier reported that Tuchel is eyed to replace Ancelotti should the Italian boss be shown the exit at Santiago Bernabeu.
Don Carlo is leading Los Blancos in an inconsistent season which has seen them fall nine points behind rivals Barcelona in the La Liga race.
Tuchel has been without a job since leaving Chelsea and has turned down several jobs including Tottenham, Aston Villa and Wolves in the Premier League.
