Potter names Jorginho successor
However, Potter has now ended the uncertainty on who would take his side's penalties going forward.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea's crunch Champions League knockout clash against Borussia Dortmund, the English tactician announced Kai Havertz would be taking penalties for the club.
"The players are always practicing penalties. We are prepared for the eventuality and possibility [of a penalty shootout]," Potter said via Mirror UK.
"We want to win it before that but if not, then we will be prepared to go through in that way. Kai is our penalty taker in the absence of Jorginho," he added.
Havertz will be hoping the new role will reignite his Stamford Bridge career, having failed to live up to his billing so far.
The German star has managed just 29 goals for the Blues in 125 appearances across competitions.

FootballFofana as Silva's replacement
Sports Brief also reported on Chelsea being dealt a devastating blow after Thiago Silva was ruled out of action for up to six weeks with knee ligament damage.
The 38-year-old veteran defender only lasted 19 minutes in the recent London derby against Tottenham Hotspur and had to be replaced by Wesley Fofana.
However, some feel Silva's replacement on Sunday, Fofana could end up becoming a crucial part of Chelsea's turnaround for this season in particular.
