  • Antonio Conte is the last Chelsea manager to lift the Premier League title
  • He left Stamford Bridge in 2018 but the trails of his signings still remain
  • The most high-profile of his bad signings is set to leave the club shortly

Italian manager, Antonio Conte is the last Chelsea boss to bring the Premier League title to Stamford Bridge, but also made some disastrous signings that proved hard for the club to move on from - even after five years after he left.

The club are finally close to moving on the last of his flops - not necessarily his last player signed - as N'golo Kante could yet extend his stay beyond the end of the season when his contract expires.

The player in question here is in fact Tiemoue Bakayako.

As noted by Daily Star, Conte spent £373.6-million of Roman Abramovich's money on 12 signings, the majority of whom did pretty well under his watch but turned into liabilities for the club the moment he walked out of the door.

Chelsea close to selling Bakayoko

As reported by BBC Sports, Chelsea parted with £40-mil to land Bakayako from AS Monaco, but time has proven it was a sheer waste of money and a disruption to a promising career.

He came with a high reputation, off the back of winning the Ligue 1 alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho and co., but he never came close to replicating that form for the Blues.

Six years on and four loan moves later, Chelsea are now set to sell him to Turkish club Adana Demirspor, though the move is still subject to Bakayoko agreeing on personal terms with the club, as reported by Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Fans react to Bakayoko news

Following the report, Chelsea fans reacted mostly with surprise, with many having even forgotten Bakayako was still on the club's books.

He has been earning £104,000 per week since signing, as reported by Sun UK.

Conte wasted Chelsea's money

Sports Brief earlier wrote on the five worst Chelsea transfers, which included four signings by Conte signings and one by Thomas Tuchel.

The German signed Romelu Lukaku, while Alvaro Morata, Ross Barkley, Danny Drinkwater and Bakayoko were all signed by Conte for almost £200-mil.

Conte and Lukaku reunited at Inter Milan and won the Serie A title together before the Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge - a move which turned out to be a disaster.
