  • The Chelsea vs Dinamo Zagreb Champions League clash on Wednesday night will be merely a formality, with the Blues already through to the last 16
  • However, Graham Potter will be expecting a reaction from his players after they were humiliated 4-1 in their last outing against Brighton
  • The Blues boss could make significant changes from the team that suffered the loss to the Seagulls at the Amex Stadium
  • Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Raheem Sterling are among the players who could be dropped in the Champions League fixture

Graham Potter is expected to make major changes to his team when Chelsea take on Dinamo Zagreb in their last Group E Champions League clash.

The Blues have already qualified for the Round of 16 of the tournament, with the side currently topping the pool ahead of the Wednesday night encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Be that as it may, the Premier League giants will be desperate to get revenge over the Croatian side after they beat them in the reverse fixture.

At the time, Zagreb sunk the west Londoners 1-0 at Stadion Maksimir, in an embarrassing result which eventually earned Thomas Tuchel the sack.

Additionally, Potter will be keen to get a strong reaction from his side against the Croatian giants, with their meeting coming against the backdrop of their 4-1 humiliation at Brighton last weekend.

Potter could drop four players

Potter is expected to make some changes from the team that lost at Brighton, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek among at least four players who could be dropped.

The English midfielder had a shambolic performance against the Seagulls, scoring an own goal before the break at the Amex Stadium.

Marc Cucurella could also be dropped after an underwhelming start to life at Stamford Bridge, alongside Raheem Sterling, who is yet to hit top form with the Blues.

Meanwhile, Kepa Arrizabalaga is unlikely to play a role in the Zagreb clash after his injury setback against Brighton.

Sterling sent World Cup warning

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Graham Potter suffered his first defeat as Chelsea boss, with his former team inflicting an embarrassing 4-1 defeat on October 29.

The Blues were down 3-0 in the first half and were completely outplayed by Roberto de Zerbi's team.

Raheem Sterling, an ever-present player on Potter's team, has been heavily criticised for his showing against the Seagulls.

Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has said the forward produced a poor performance and in his current form, he shouldn't be at the World Cup.
