Thomas Tuchel is facing backlash at Chelsea after making his players train on a supposed off day. The Chelsea players were supposed to use Sunday as a rest day after playing on Saturday, but the German coach called them in.
Chelsea’s recent drop in form has brought unrest and fears that they might miss out on Champions League football. The Blues have only won twice in their last seven games.
After a disappointing 2-2 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Chelsea stars expected to rest on Sunday but were left irritated when Tuchel called them for drills. The Daily Mail reports that the Chelsea players are worn out after a gruelling season that has seen them participate in 59 games so far.
Arsenal have cut Chelsea’s grip on third place to just a single point. The outgoing European champions travel to relegation candidates Leeds United on Wednesday. A win at Elland Road could see them secure their spot in Europe’s elite competition.
