Romelu Lukaku, who has been out of his breath in recent weeks was charged with the responsibility of leading the goal hunt.

How Chelsea downed Middlesbrough

The Belgian went on to repay Tuchel's faith in him with a goal, scoring the opener in the 15th minute of the encounter.

The visitors should have scored as early as the fourth minute when Mason Mount put a cross into the penalty area only for Lukaku and Pulisic to miss.

Ziyech doubled his side's advantage shortly after the half-hour mark, firing a wicked dipping shot from outside the penalty area to find the back of the net.

The second half of the meeting produced no goals as Chelsea appeared content with the scoreline.

The two goals were nonetheless enough to earn the Premier League giants a place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Chelsea backed to beat Real Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief reported former Chelsea star Joe Cole has backed the club to see off Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The European heavyweights were pitted against each other following a draw that was conducted on Friday, March 18.

The two teams faced off last season in the semis of the competition, with Chelsea emerging victors and went on to win the title.
