British tycoon Nick Candy has made a promise to Chelsea fans as he seeks to beat competitors in the race to buy the club.
The west London outfit was recently put on sale by current owner Roman Abramovich, with the Russian oligarch looking to sell the club after almost 20 years at the helm.
A number of wealthy businessmen are understood to be facing a race against time to take over the ownership of the club.
Nick Candy linked with Chelsea takeover
According to Metro UK, Candy, a Chelsea season-ticket holder is among a number of businessmen who have expressed interest in buying the London club.
The publication claims the 49-year-old property developer is already in talks with financiers with a view of forming a consortium to purchase the Blues.
It is believed the Briton is keen to go ahead with the plan despite Abramovich's recent sanctions by the UK government.
Candy makes promise to Chelsea fans
Candy, through his spokesperson, has now detailed his plans for the club should his bid see the light of the day.
Candy vowed to ensure the fans have a seat on the board so they can play a central role in the club's decision-making.
"Mr Candy cares hugely about the future of the club and believes that the fans and the community are central to its continued success," the spokesperson told Sky Sports.
"Should his bid be successful, Mr Candy would advocate for a fan representative to join the board so supporters become part of the decision-making process," he added.
