Thomas Tuchel has been handed a significant transfer boost after long-term target Jules Kounde reportedly agreeing to join the Blues in January.
The Stamford Bridge dwellers made a move for Kounde during the summer transfer window but were unable to agree a deal with Sevilla who were demanding £68.5million.
The defender is believed to have been left fuming after the move fell through but remains keen to join the European champions.
According to journalist Duncan Castles on The Transfer Window Podcast, Kounde is looking to complete a switch to the west London club as early as January as he has already agreed terms.

Football"Chelsea are continuing to pursue him. They have continued to make it clear they want to bring him to the Premier League and that they’re interested in doing it in January," Castles revealed.
"Obviously the financial terms remain fine, they were accepted in the summer," he added.
The development will come as a major boost for Chelsea who look set to lose Antonio Rudiger who is yet to agree to a new contract.
SunSport reports Rudiger is already attracting interest from a number of European clubs including Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
This could leave the Blued with no choice but to snap up Kounde in January as they cash in on Rudiger who they risk losing for free in the summer.
Earlier, Sports Brief reported ex-Man United striker Dimitar Berbatov has urged Edinson Cavani to leave Old Trafford.
Cavani has endured a disappointing spell in his second year with the Red Devils, with injuries taking a huge toll on his form.
