Cape Town City defeated Orlando Pirates 2-1 on Saturday evening in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium.
The Buccaneers, absolutely poor in front of goals in the league this season, needed nothing but a win to keep their title hopes alive as they fade with every passing day.
Things appeared to be going according to plan as Deon Hotto put the visitors in the lead in the 20th minute. However, the lead barely lasted, Juan Zapata dragging the hosts back into the match with a headed equaliser in the 31st minute.
The 20 000-strong crowd was then subjected to a drab encounter in picturesque conditions, before Darwin Gonzalez settled matters in the 74th minute, to the jubilation of the home fans
