FootballCape Town City Trolls Kaizer Chiefs Fans' Goal of the Month Voting
- Cape Town City's social media administrator, renowned for his (or her) cheeky and irreverent posts was at it again
- The admin triggered Kaizer Chiefs fans, the majority fanbase in South Africa, for their voting patterns after Chiefs' Nkosingiphile Ngcobo won the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month
- City's Mpho Makola was on the nomination list after his superb free-kick against Moroka Swallows sealed a 2-1 victory
Cape Town City's social media administrator was not particularly happy with the DStv Premiership Goal of the Month pick judging by a tweet sent from the club's Twitter account.
Kaizer Chiefs' Nkosingiphile Ngcobo's super strike against Sekhukhune United won the fan vote for the month of December. City's entrant on the poll was Mpho Makola's superb free-kick against Moroka Swallows, which sealed a 2-1 win for the Citizens.
In a thinly-veiled dig at the Amakhosi voters, who were expected to dominate the polling in their team's favour, the tweet read:
"Real goal of the month… #iamCityFC"
This resulted in a flurry of responses from football fans, neutral or otherwise.
"I think just about ALL other contenders for Dec GOTM are way better than Ngcobo's goal."

"The sooner y'all learn that you don't have fans the better. Only three teams have fans."
@Mivusiwe said:
"A GOTM shouldn't be a popularity contest! It makes a mockery of the award. The 16 coaches and captains should vote on GOTM."
@dyanieric said:
"The ball was put down for him to kick towards goal unmarked and he did just that. What's special about that?"
@_Aikabi said:
"That goal won because we voted for it as Kaizer Chiefs fans and it is special to us. You should have voted for your favourite goal of the month and stop whining."
