This is Tuchel's first job after he was sacked by Chelsea in September last year, with the manager now set to oversee the rest of the campaign and a further two years. Bayern are currently interlocked in a three-way Bundesliga fight, plus a Champions League quarterfinal showdown against Manchester City.

Reports now indicate that Tuchel is set on poaching the highly-rated Anthony Barry from Chelsea to be part of his coaching staff. Barry was signed by Frank Lampard and stayed on when the Chelsea legend was sacked in 2021.

The 36-year-old then remained to help Graham Potter when he took over from Tuchel last year. As the Telegraph reports, Chelsea are preparing to convince Barry not to move to Munich.

Kovacic and Mendy deals

Apart from Barry, Football London, via Calciomercato, additionally adds that Tuchel could prompt the Bavarians to move for Mateo Kovacic and Edouard Mendy in the summer. Both players' futures at Chelsea remain uncertain amid the abrasive shake-up undertaken by Todd Boehly.

Kovacic and Mendy were among the most trusted lieutenants of Tuchel during his reign at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel's first assignment after the international break will be a reunion against his other former side Borussia Dortmund in the Der Klassiker. Dortmund currently lead Bayern by a point.

Why Chelsea sacked Tuchel

Previously, Sports Brief reported that it has been close to six months since Thomas Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea.

It was a decision not many fans and pundits agreed with, as the new owners decided to bring in now-embattled Graham Potter as his replacement.

At the time of his sacking, the Blues weren't performing well, but co-owner, Todd Boehly revealed the German wasn't sacked entirely because of on-pitch results and rather because the club was being steered in a new direction - one which Tuchel was not seen as the right person to do.
