The Cameroonian striker didn’t get the chance to prove his worth while the Polish striker was at the club, but he’s making up for lost time now.
With Lewandowski moving on to Barcelona and Sadio Mane injured, Choupo-Moting has been forced to step up, and step up he has.
The Cameroonian scored the opening goal against RB Leipzig as the Bundesliga resumed after the World Cup break, and reached a career milestone in the process.

Choupo-Moting has now scored 12 goals this season in all competitions and only notched up his seventh goal in seven starts this season.
With the lanky striker proving his worth, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann is more likely to trust him going forward.
The goal was also Choupo-Moting's 103 goal of his career. As noted by Transfermarkt, 29 of those goals have been with Bayern, the club where he's scored the most. He only took 72 games to reach that mark.
He also netted 22 times for Schalke 04 and FSV Mainz. He took 106 games at Schalke to reach that total and 81 games at Mainz.
Choupo-Moting's contract with the Bundesliga champions ends this season, and Bayern are desperately trying to get him to extend his stay. As noted by Bavarian Football Works, negotiations have hit a roadblock.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is looking forward to a reunion with Paris Saint-Germain but knows all too well just how dangerous a side they can be.
The German-born Cameroon international, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, left the French side in October 2020, Sports Brief reported.
He will come face to face with them again next year after Bayern and PSG were drawn against each other in the Champions League's Round of 16 stage.
