After 19 years as a professional footballer, former Bayer Munich winger and French international Franck Ribéry has announced his football retirement.
The 39-year-old was playing his football with Serie A side US Salernitana 1919, but terminated his contract after picking up a knee injury.
With his contract terminated, Ribéry officially announced that he was retiring from football, the BBC reported.

The former Bayern star also took to Twitter to thank everyone involved in his career.
Ribéry was a huge part of Bayern’s golden years and won nine Bundesliga titles with the Bavarian giants. He also enjoyed a legendary career with the French national team.
Ribéry’s incredible career:
As noted by Transfermarkt, Ribéry played 425 games for Bayern and scored an impressive 124 goals during that time. He also notched up 182 assists for the club.
For France, he made 81 appearances and scored 16 goals. He was a big part of the French team that finished as runners-up in the 2006 World Cup. Ribéry was also a three-time French player of the year. He retired from international football in 2014.
