FootballKopa Trophy: Bayern Star Alphonso Davies Slams Ballon d’Or Organizers for ‘Cheating’ German Whizkid Musiala
- Bayern Munich teenage prodigy Jamal Musiala narrowly missed out on the Kopa Trophy for the best player of last season aged under 21 at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris
- However, his clubmate Alphonso Davies argues the Germany whizkid was 'robbed' of the prize but believes he will annex the Ballon d'Or prize in the near future
- Musiala has stolen the limelight since he debuted with Bayern Munich last season and has continued in red-hot fashion this term, scoring seven times and contributing with eight assists
Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has taken a swipe at France Football, organizers of the Ballon d'Or awards for 'robbing' teammate Jamal Musiala of the Kopa Trophy.
Gavi succeeded Barcelona teammate Pedri as the recipient of the Kopa Trophy at this year's edition of the Ballon d'Or ceremony held on Monday, October 17 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris.
The 18-year-old Barcelona midfield prospect was voted ahead Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid) and Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich) to win the award, which recognizes the finest Under 21 player.
However, just like the previous editions, this year's ceremony was not bereft of controversies as Gavi's Kopa Trophy success raised eyebrows across a section of the football landscape.

But none has been as loud as that of Canadian fullback Alphonso Davies, who reckoned his club mate Jamal Musiala was cheated.
The 21-year-old defender took to Twitter to register his displeasure with the award organizers for bypassing Musiala to name Gavi as the Kopa Trophy winner while touting his teammate to win the most coveted prize in the near future.
"They may have denied you of your Kopa Trophy, but they won’t deny you of your future Ballon d’Or #GoldenBoy" Davies wrote.
