Robert Lewandowski has set a new record in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League.

The Bayern Munich forward was in scintillating form when the German champions welcome Red Bull Salzburg from Austria on Tuesday night.

In the first leg, Austrian-born Nigerian forward Chukwubuike Adamu scored for RB Salzburg as they drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich in the last-16 of the Champions League.

And in the second leg, Lewandowski needed only 10 minutes to make history after he scored three goals for the German giants at the Allianz Arena to become the quickest ever hat-trick in the competition.

How Lewandowski scored the hat trick

The 33-year-old opened the scoring from the spot in 12 minutes to put his side up 1-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate.

The Poland international scored his second goal nine minutes later after he converted another penalty, before completing his hat-trick within a mere 120 seconds of returning to the centre-circle.

In total Lewandowski needed just 23 minutes from kick-off to reach three, making Champions League history.

Bayern Munich Keeping Tabs on Dutch Born Ghanaian Defender

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Dutch-born Ghanaian defender, Jeremie Frimpong, could leave Bayer Leverkusen to join German giants Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The former Celtic right back has attracted interest for the German champions following his wonderful performance for his club in the Bundesliga this season.

Per a report on German outlet Sport1, Bayern Munich have shown interest in the 21-year-old, with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona also said to be interested.
