The former Bayern Munich star has only managed to score two goals this year in La Liga, with his showing against Almeria being the last straw for many fans.

Barcelona only managed one shot on target in the 90 minutes, courtesy of a game effort by Ángel Alarcón, and even used a defender as a makeshift attacker to get an equaliser.

With Almeria leading 1-0 and time running out, Barcelona deployed Ronald Araujo as a striker.

The Uruguayan was in the thick of things constantly as his teammates tried to pick him out in the box.

Araujo's efforts, though, exposed Lewandowski's poor performance even more and fans took to social media to blast the striker.

@kshitijshah23:

"Araújo has done more in terms of attacking in the box in 25 minutes as a sub than Lewandowski did in the entire game. Don't tell me chances weren't created for him. This is beyond unacceptable from someone who cost us 55 million at 34 years of age and was supposedly the best player last season."

@aswination:

"He is bang average without the Bayern midfield, which used to serve him goals on a plate."

@mosali_99:

"He's dropped off a cliff, never mind the goals but his all-round play has been outrageously bad."

@terselira1:

"Lewandisney at his best!!!"
